Tenuta San Biagio — whitewashed villa volumes among olive groves near Ostuni, Puglia
Residential

Set among ancient olive groves and deep red earth, this project in Puglia close to Ostuni involves the renewal and extension of a traditional rural dwelling through a process of demolition and reconstruction. Perched on a gentle hillside with a sweeping sea view, the villa embraces the timeless qualities of the Apulian landscape while reinterpreting its vernacular architecture in a contemporary, minimalist language.

The design draws from the purity of local rural forms: thick whitewashed walls, essential geometries, and a close relationship with the terrain. Volumes are carved with precision, creating a sequence of quiet, sculptural spaces that capture the Mediterranean light. The architecture is intentionally soft and understated, an exercise in restraint where simplicity becomes a form of luxury.

The interiors follow a minimalist approach with built-in elements, natural textures, and a muted palette that allows the surrounding nature to take center stage. Stone, lime plaster, and wood anchor the spaces in local tradition while offering a refined, contemporary atmosphere.
